Deets

Yippee. What a great week. First I have a Wii for my birthday from Husbandido (thanks! now I can get my ass handed to me playing tennis). Secondly, it's a great day. The freaky firerworks get on my nerves though. At any rate, with the book done, I can focus on other things...like Sim City 4. VoodooLand is currently struggling, but hey, it's my first go and it's comedy so far.

Regarding the book: a few deets to share.

1) I chose blurb.com largely because they had a software (free) that I can use to lay it out. I was afraid that doing it myself would have given me some blurry pictures, etc, and even though I knew I had a vision of what the book would look like, it's always easier to drop it in. The project was EASY to do once I had everything.

2) The other option was lulu.com, but you would have to use the templates and DIY. I'm all for that, but I know that would have taken me a lot longer. it IS cheaper though, and my next project will probably use Lulu.

3) It doesn't have an ISBN, but Lulu would have been helpful in that regard.

4) It really did take me a month to do the entire book, from hunting down contributors and collecting their work.

5) If I could do it differently, I would have done the larger format EARLIER. It turned out I did it wrong, and that's my fault. But next time, it will probably be coffee table size. But that's more expensive, so ya know. Maybe not.

6) I've updated the website. Surprise, surprise, it's a featured book. I'm honored, but I hope it's because it's good, not because it's by default.

That's it for now. I have an early morning to get to, so night night!

PS: congrats to Ms.M&M. It never ceases to amaze me how people can really take advantage of another person, esp. when that person is a good person. Now that you're free, enjoy it. You deserve happiness.

Like a professor callin' you out

I happened to notice that some of you haven't turned some of your assignments. They were due on 6/2. I am fairly lenient, just let me know if you have it coming. You won't get penalized, but it doesn't help your grade any either.

God I love saying that stuff.

Introducing the Darlingtons and How I Keeps Up with My Peeps

It's Saturday night and I'm at home chillin' with Husbandido. He's illin' right now and I'm chillin. Perfect couple, no?

Thanks to the Darlingtons, the baddest book club that ever was! Put together out of my love of books and wanting to pass that down to my girls, we read a book together (or some of us did! ;-)) and got together a few months later to have dinner and talk shop. I'm normally not a huge fan of PF Chiang's after my disastrous evening out with Mighty Mom and MnM Girl in Vegas at another PF Chiang that left me reliving my days at Miyake. Yuck.

So I geeked out entirely and made bookmarks and a newsletter! What can I say, I do it all the time at work for other events, so why not here ;-) Excellent night out with the girls, so thanks! If any of you are into the read we just did: By a Lady by Amanda Elyot. Props to the last finisher: the Enforcer who knocked out the last few pages! Props to the first finisher: Tootle's Ma! Next up brings us The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant. Catch up if you're interested in joining us for our next get-together! We'll be gathering our beautiful selves in February so that's lots of time to read, folks. And no tee-tees allowed! ;-)

Because I've got a ton of blogs to catch up on, I've found a great online tool to share with my tech savvies out there...the Google Reader is the bomb, loves. Instead of trying to remember what sites are out there (I also use this for my news, gossip, and other websites I'm keeping up with), I have them all on one site. You might know this as a "RSS reader" or a "feed reader." It shows you what new stuff is on someone's website that you are actively reading, so I can, for instance tell what's new on Mighty Mom's blog or even the Chronicle! It's pretty easy to use, all you do is enter in the sites you follow (or once you download the bookmarklet you can click if you see a site you like!), and you're set. Just go to the Google Reader page and read away. Also you can peep the page I saved all the interesting readings here!

If you do not have a google account, let me know. I can hook you up with one. Yes, I roll like that, people.

Off to enjoy the rest of my relaxing evening, people. Going to settle into a book and see where it takes me. Peace!

Newish

I've been hacking away the last few days, not only on the Voodoo blog (sort of miss the Child part, but we all gotta grow up eventually no?), but on the Weekenders and Baby Blog templates too. I didn't do much for Bukowski's Muse, but that's life for ya.

So if you see another bloggeroni that needs an update, be sure to let me know. I'll gladly fix 'em up. BTW, I'm talking about BRLers and not your mama's blog. Unless you think it might work if I shoot her an email Sealed
